An event horizon is a boundary in spacetime at which the escape velocity for a given mass reaches and then exceeds the speed of light, making escape impossible. from Wikipedia
Once upon a time a good developer (me) wanted to build it's personal website. The first approach was to use the BlueCode Labs' ColdTea template engine. It worked good, but creating good modules for blogging was taking too time, so, he decided to use work from someone else: wordpress.
The wordpress CMS worked great for an entire month. Then, for an understandable reason, it stopped to work: the admin password was correct, but it wasn't simply able to login. So, something changed...
And the author wanted to post a wiki, to keep his works, not a blog. That wiki system was called DokuWiki, which was running great on good programmer's localhost, but after the upload, it simply didn't work.
So the good programmer (who still like DokuWiki and Wordpress), decided to reuse ColdTea, but with a less complex system to manage contents. You know, BCL's CT (BlueCode Labs ColdTea) is a modular php template engine: it's really easy to put it up working: you put it in your home root, you create your (x)html template file (or more than one), and you create (if someone didn't created it before) the modules, that are php code that handles your data.
After some minutes of work (yes, some minutes, like RoR) on PHP modules, I created a simple-but-working cms. It's raw, it's simple, it's fast, and it's sufficient to publish my small amount of pages about my works.
I hope you enjoy the site :)

It was winter 2004 when I relased the first version of AkiRoss' smileys set, for gaim. Now it's 2006, smileys are at version 1.9b. Plenty of downloads in these 2 years, and finally someone (Drizzt, see links) made the file for Kopete, the KDE's IM client. I don't use it, so I never tested it, but seems to work. The version 1.9b is the same of 1.9, but adds the file "emoticons.xml" for kopete users.

I made some msn-compliant icons for my set for a famous Linux distribution, but here you will find only my personal set. I mean, personal because this is the set that I use. These are the icons that I use. Most of msn ones aren't necessary and not used by me and my friends.
This set include only the smileys I'm using to chat with friends. No more, no less. I'm sorry, if you want other icons, but right now them aren't aviable... but I think i'll publish soon an extended pack, which contains other smileys, msn compatible, user requested, iditic (er... more idiotic) ones and so on.
The set is made with The GIMP, but for the relase 2.0 i'll convert them in SVG. The problem is that on inkscape layers aren't easily managed... oh well, even GIMP isn't wonderful when talking about layers managing (source xcf for these smileys have about 200 layers, and isn't easy to manage :P), but inkscape is even worster. So i've to found a way to handle them better. Maybe i'll put a new version of smile-generator online, so you can compose your smileys as you want :)
License: you can actually use the set for any non-commercial purpose: you can modify and redistribute the set with this license (i.e. your derived word should be free for non-commercial use). And if you use my set, you should link this website somewhere where you use them.
Anyway, you can find a more detailed license in the package.
Do you like tetris? Well, I do. That is my favourite game (yeah, nerdish game :D). So I made a tetris, but it's particular: it can morph.
How? You may ask. Simple: each block have an arrow on it: when it interacts with other blocks, a force in that direction will be applied. Block push block... and the morph is done ;)
The game is still under development, but it's playable as a normal tetris. The morphing part isn't done yet :P And I'm not feeling right to put it online, for now.
My mind is a continous generator of ideas. That's because I'm always doing research and development about something. It can be a game, it can be an application, it can be a concept. Computers, philosophy, circuits, sociology, maths, intelligence. I'm always working on something. For my interest, for my needings or for a great idea that I want to see applied. Often I never end these projects, but often I get an interesting point of them (i.e. a point where actually I learn what I was interested into, or where I get the info I looked for). In this section, I'll write some of the project I'm working on. Only a small part, because they are probabily the more concrete, userful and interesting. Just to show you what's under the hood ;)
Of course lot of projects, researchs and this kind of stuff has always born and died on my computer. Maybe these project will do this same end... And pheraps they will never be published on Internet. So I write about them here, just because if you want to have deeper descriptions, if you like to collaborate (maybe lately, after university, mh ;) and any other info, you know how to contact me.
Er... whell, dhis is my wabsite, so I kan olso vrite someting about me, und since I'm Italian, and I'm still disapproving the aidea to vriting in english (hey, but engrish is more userful for the web :P), this paragrafh is written in an pseudo-language, meking your reading even hurder >:D MUAHAUAH
Nah, I'm not good in english but writing even worste is difficult :P
So, author info: I'm Alessandro Re, a.k.a. AkiRoss, the first AkiRoss the internet saw, this is because in 2000 the Final Fantasy movie wasn't even published. About myself I can say that... I'm crazy, that I'm a good with programming and computer stuff, I like to draw, I'm polite, democratic, but also fanatic and arrogant :) My nature is highly mutable, I'm not really well-defined... I like to change, to change myself, so you can expect anything from me, but usually I tend to be predictable, since mostly people like predictableness. Oh... and I'm born in 1985.
Actually I study Information Technology at University of Milano Bicocca (www.disco.unimib.it), 3rd year. I'm a C/C++ programmer (even if I know lots of computer languages) and I'm going to be specialized in computer graphics, mostly OpenGL stuff :P I've an hi-scool degree as Technician Leader Programmer, at I.T.I.S. C. Facchinetti of Busto Arsizio (www.itisbusto.it).
Lots of acquaintances, some good friends, a dog and no girlfriend. When I'm not at computer, I'm reading books (of course about math and opengl :D) or out with friends wasting my time or playing basket/soccer/swimming/pentago/other.
If you feel so generous with me, if (birthday|Christmas|Easter|anniversary|anything) is approaching and you absolutely need (or want, which is best) to give me something, you can look up the following wishlist.
So, I wish to have...
Here some links, favourites, rings networks, friends and so on.
Or simply links to persons who did something for me, and wanted just a bit of glory and fame in return :D
... Or people who paid me (no one until now... pity) to have their link in this list. The position in the list goes up as the bucks goes in my wallet :D rofl
